Spring cleaning

The past 10 years have seen multiple shifts in the applications used for product design. One benefit is that it gives you a chance to do some spring cleaning on your design systems by recreating design libraries.

The process is a great cathartic break from strategy, a chance to do some nuts-and-bolts work. It's an ideal time to run audits, reconsider decisions, trim what isn't working, and recreate or reimagine new components.

Having led this process twice in the last five years, I've gained a good perspective on the new AI way of working, where we'll need to redefine how design systems are structured and constrained through skill and memory markdown files.
